Observation: Lots of titles in "link posts" are not edited / cleaned up

I have been seeing a lot of titles to links that are unedited and have extra useless redundant info in them (specifically domain tags) that just make this place look messier than it has to be. For those guilty of this practice, its no biggie (seriously), here is how to quickly make sure your title is following the posting etiquette of snapzu.

When posting a link make sure you do the following:

  1. Check over the title and make sure its not click-baity, if it is, edit it so it's more informative
  2. Make sure the title is not cut-off or otherwise missing key information that is originally included inside the link
  3. Look over the title and make sure there isn't domain tags like "BBC NEWS", or "| CNET", etc

That's pretty much it, with cleaner titles we will have an easier time to scan lists of posts which will make life easier for everyone. If anyone else has any other suggestions please be sure to post them in the comments below. Feedback is always good :)

Will do. I've probably been guilty of this - but my saving grace is that I don't have /too many/ snaps cluttering things up just yet. But I'll go double-check the ones I have made so far.

No problem! I'm still learning - easiest to unlearn bad habits now :)

I think it's important that tribe chiefs/moderators make this clear in the tribe rules. A little reminder when creating a new post would also be helpful.

As a brand new user, I've noticed this site has quite a bit more click-bait type sites than what I expected. In the last 5 posts I've gone to; one was a terribly written blog with awful formatting, full of errors, and just terrible writing (swearing, name-calling, etc.), and completely covered in ads. The next was an article blocked by a survey I had to fill out to read. After that post, I ended up clicking on a buzz-feed knock off. You get the idea....

Is this typical Snapzu content? I joined hoping for much more original content or reputable sources. I mean this as a genuine question, not a criticism.

I don't think its typical at all, but sometimes it happens, nothing like a shitty coincidence to ruin a morning :D

it's not typical, but don't forget to install ad-block!

Wow, I can't help but feel like I'm the main person who is guilty of this. I'll try to edit my titles, I usually just posted them directly after I read them without looking back.

Hey, we all forget at times! As long as we make the odd correction (even after the fact) here and there to clean up our content it goes a long way. BTW, I had a quick glance at your snap list and found all your snap titles are super clean now, thank you so much for taking the time to make those corrections!

Whenever I post snaps (rarely), I edit the title and type in my own description instead of using the default description. If you just make it your MO to always type your own description/Title you won't forget.

Goes to show that occasional PSAs like this are effective. Many users simply don't realize.

I've been editing the titles slightly as well as adding the first paragraph of the page to the description as what ever is usually populated in the description has been truncated or really doesn't describe anything.

That is literally the best thing you can do! Thanks for keeping it clean dude.
