TIL: Annual Tradition at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station is to watch The Thing after the last plane leaves.
Over time, the base has developed traditions. Shortly after the last plane leaves, the winter-overs gather in the main dining room, the Galley, for a showing of the science fiction movie "The Thing," about an alien that attacks researchers in an isolated Antarctic base. At midwinter, tradition dictates that the film "The Shining," about a family isolated in a haunted hotel after a snowstorm, be shown.

Do you always follow directions from The Thing? Seems dangerous.
Welcome!
It was either that or listen to the voices. You don't want to know what they tell me to do.
I know exactly what you mean.
I am already loving this website.
Hmm... Point taken. Tell voice #3 I said, "Hi."
It's more dangerous if you don't. Then he shouts, "It's Clobberin' Time!" and starts swinging.
He's gotta catch me first.
