To me, Voat seemed like a good alternative, but it just felt mainly like "Reddit re-skinned"... not that there's anything wrong with that - there's a reason Reddit is one of the top sites on the Internet! :)
Snapzu definitely seems to have far more interesting incentives to participate other than to increase a karma score. I only recently read about the personal and Tribe leveling systems, which are a really neat feature. I've also skimmed over the 5.1 patch notes for the platform, and I'm quite impressed. That's a lot of new functionality to cram in, and I'm already liking some of the planned functionality for 5.2.
I'll add that the format is much more refined and appealing. I've been here only for 4 days and still learning the ropes but I see no reason whatsoever to go back to Reddit. I wish I knew about this site sooner.
This thread was the first time I've heard Voat mentioned here on Snapzu and it reminded me that it existed (the last time I checked was a couple days ago and it was down) I went over there for a peek and you are absolutely right. It's like a mini Reddit clone, I was looking for something a little different. Glad I hopped unto this boat instead.
I thought I liked Voat, but the content is lacking. Too many posts about Reddit and "MFW" posts about Voat being down... This place is refreshing.

Very impressed with everything so far! :)
