The Rock Restaurant, Zanzibar
The Rock restaurant just off shore in Zanzibar. As the sun set, I was taking photos of The Rock before going out there to have dinner. As the light levels dropped, the light came on in the restaurant and I knew I had my shot.

Picturesque Nature Film Photography by Mirko Ardori
Mirko Ardori is a 32-year-old Italian photographer, based-in Ferrara. “I rediscovered film photography some years ago because of tiring of the usual digital picture in which most of the time it was enough to be a good graphic designer instead of a photographer.”

Lars Hierta-fjellet at Svalbard
In 2008, I went to Svalbard. The day this was taken we were just outside of Longyearbyen looking for fossils. I saw the mountain in the distance but realized my 100mm lens couldn't capture the scene. I took 5 shots of the mountain, made sure there was an overlap and took the pictures home to edit later. This is perhaps the fourth time I've edited the photo, this time it's done in LR's native photomerging tool.

Dawn illuminates the South Manitou Island lighthouse in Lake Michigan, retired since 1958.
Went down to the beach early in the morning while camping in this wonderful, wild place and thought for a moment that they'd recommissioned the lighthouse. But it was just the old lens catching and throwing the beginnings of dawn's light at me (click through to the full-size image to really see it). It only lasted a couple of minutes. Almost spooky; definitely beautiful. Later that day I got a lighthouse tour from the last lighthouse keeper's great-great (I think) grandson. Island gallery below.

Milk Churns Without Border
An art installation formed with milk churns, made by land art artist Gerard Benoit a la Guillaume, is seen at the Chenau de Mayen in the resort of Leysin, Switzerland. More than 80 milk churns were placed between the Tour d'Ai and the Tour de Mayen summits at an altitude of 2,000 meters (6,561 feet) above sea level under the direction of the artist, to be photographed for his ongoing art project entitled "Milk churns without borders".
