The first Ford Mustang owner kept the car. It's now worth $350,000
Tom and Gail Wise disagreed about whether a broken-down car should be stored in a family garage for 27 years or sold for junk. He insisted they keep it because, he promised, one day he would find the time to fix the vehicle himself. It was her skylight blue convertible Ford Mustang, purchased at age 22 in 1964, that their family of six drove for 15 years.

‘Mustang Means Freedom’: Why Ford Is Saving an American Icon
When Ford Motor all but eliminated passenger cars from its North American lineup earlier this month to concentrate on trucks and S.U.V.s, it turned the page on a long and storied history of now-defunct but once red-hot nameplates: the Model T, the Model A, the Galaxie, the Fairlane, the Thunderbird and the Falcon, to name several. There was one conspicuous survivor: the Mustang.

Dizziness, nausea, and vomiting are not things typically associated with a drive to the store. But after more than 1,300 complaints of similar symptoms reported, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA) says it is investigating Ford Explorer SUVs. They are looking at models from the years 2011-2017. Ford says they haven't found any problems that could explain why someone would develop those symptoms. The automobile manufacturer even says the SUVs are safe to use.

Ford says it will boost its investment in electric vehicles to $11bn (£8bn) in the next five years, more than doubling a previous commitment. Chairman Bill Ford said the car maker would have 40 hybrid and fully electric vehicles in its range by 2022. It comes as countries around the world put more pressure on car makers to rein in carbon emissions.

Ford sued by truck owners claiming diesel engines were rigged
Ford Motor Co. rigged at least 500,000 big pickup trucks to beat emissions tests, drivers claimed in a lawsuit, adding to the tally of carmakers linked to diesel-cheating allegations worldwide that started in 2015 with Volkswagen AG. Ford’s F-250 and F-350 Super Duty diesel pickups, a slice of the top-selling F-series, are spewing emissions as much as 50 times the legal limit of nitrogen oxide pollutants, according to the complaint. The trucks sold from 2011 to 2017 cost $8,400 more than their gasoline-fueled counterparts, the filing shows.

Why the Ford Focus RS Is Having Head Gasket Issues
The Ford Focus RS is America's first RS and the most powerful version of the hatch that has ever been offered. Enthusiasts who wanted an RS for years but could never get one snatched the car up at the first opportunity. Some of those buyers just wanted a quick daily driver, while others took them right to the track. But, like other first year performance cars, there were issues that popped up.

Ford Now Plans to Move Production of Electric SUVs From Michigan to Mexico
Ford Motor Co. is changing gears again in Mexico, shifting planned production of a small electric-powered sport utility vehicle to a plant south of the border instead of a Michigan factory. Sending the electric vehicle to Mexico, where labor costs are lower, will help the business case for the costly model. It also risks raising the ire of President Donald Trump, who had been sharply critical of an earlier plan by Ford to build a small car factory in Mexico that the company ultimately canceled.

Why Police Departments And Taxi Drivers Loved The Ford Crown Vic
When Ford finally phased out the Crown Victoria, police departments stockpiled as many of these cars as they could. At first, it’s difficult to see why: at the end of its life, the Crown Vic was as creaky, old, and as obsolete as cars got. But there were a few reasons why these sedans were (and still are) so beloved.

Ford Disguised a Person as a Seat to Test How We React to Driverless Cars
A Ford van zooming around the Washington D.C. area last month, seemingly without a human in the driver’s seat, wasn’t self-driving after all: it was a man in a ‘seat suit.’ A fake driverless car might seem like a weird experiment, especially considering the fact that there’s an entire fake town for testing self-driving vehicles at Ford’s disposal.

Ford Announces New Focus Manufacturing Plans, Shifts Production From Mexico To China
Ford is shifting production of its next-generation Focus from Mexico to China, planning to import the small car to the United States. While other U.S. companies such as Apple have been manufacturing products in China, Ford's decision to source the Focus from the country in East Asia is likely to draw more attention than the others. That's because this marks the first time that the carmaker will make a vehicle in China targeted at U.S. consumers.
