Canada goose knocks out US hunter
A hunter in the US has been knocked unconscious by a dead goose that fell out of the sky. Robert Meilhammer was hunting in Easton in the state of Maryland, when he was hit by a Canada goose that had been shot by a fellow hunter. The bird weighed between 10 and 14 pounds (4.5-6.5kg), police say. The 51-year-old suffered injuries to his face and head but is in a stable condition in hospital.

Three teenage girls are facing criminal charges in the United States after knowingly exposing a classmate with a severe pineapple allergy to the fruit, police say. A 14-year-old is accused of rubbing pineapple on her own hand and then high-fiving the girl with the allergy during a lunch period at Butler Intermediate High School in Butler, Pennsylvania, on December 13. The victim, also 14, was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, The Associated Press reported.

A surgeon has admitted burning his initials on to the livers of two unconscious patients during transplant operations. Simon Bramhall, 53, admitted two counts of assault by beating at Birmingham Crown Court but pleaded not guilty to alternative charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In a statement, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Bramhall wrote his initials on the livers of the two patients without their consent and for no clinical reason while working as a liver transplant surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A man in Georgia says that deputies ordered him to cut his own dog’s head off after it became aggressive. Crawford County Sheriff Lewis Walker told WMGT that deputies were recently called to an area residence after a dog attacked a woman, after arriving on scene the dog became aggressive with deputies. “The deputy left there and went to make contact with the owner of the dog. When he pulled into the drive way and got out of the vehicle, that same dog approached him again in an aggressive manner,” said Lewis.
