Google Wants To Make Silicon Valley As Bike-Friendly As Copenhagen
In theory, the heart of Silicon Valley—towns like Mountain View and Santa Clara—should be the ultimate place to bike. It's usually 72 degrees and sunny; it's mostly flat. But it's also a classic example of suburbia designed for cars, bisected by 10-lane freeways and extra-wide streets filled with speeding cars. Google is hoping to help turn its home turf into something more like the bicycle paradise of Copenhagen...

Riding High
The trouble with mountain biking in Nepal is that you’re surrounded by distractions. Fields of bright orange marigolds and golden mustard flowers look like a sunset splashed across the earth. Chubby-cheeked babies bathing in buckets of water cause my second near tumble. Then there is the sight of the campsites sheltering people still without homes... By Jen Murphy.

Fans hail the smooth new velo routes as the answer to urban traffic jams and air pollution, and a way to safely get nine-to-fivers outdoors. As a glimpse of a greener urban transport future, Germany has just opened the first five-kilometre (three-mile) stretch of a bicycle highway that is set to span over 100 kilometres.

Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city, is currently running a trial where cyclists are given RFID tags that they attach to their wheels.
