Study finds no link between cycling helmet laws and head injury rates
A major Canadian study has found no link between cycle helmet legislation and head injuries, and has recommended governments focus on providing bike infrastructure to protect cyclists instead. Between 2006-2011 the study recorded hospitalisation data from different Canadian jurisdictions, some with mandatory helmet laws, some without. Making something illegal doesn't address the reasons why people do it, it's just the easy way for politicians to make a point and get votes. You can look at drugs, abortion, adultery, and the like for more examples.
