Face To Face With The Destroyer - Porsche 917/10
The Porsche 917/10 represents massive overwhelming force. That’s quite something when you’re talking about a car that was aimed at Can-Am, the ’70s race series that in its classic incarnation was based around a virtually no-limits, all-out power formula. This /10 and its younger, even more powerful sister the 917/30 represent the most ferocious, raw …

Automakers Say You Don’t Really Own Your Car
EFF is fighting for vehicle owners’ rights to inspect the code that runs their vehicles and to repair and modify their vehicles, or have a mechanic of their choice do the work. At the moment, the anti-circumvention prohibition in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act arguably restricts vehicle inspection, repair, and modification.

A Vision Of A Driverless Future
One of the things I find most surprising about discussions concerning the advent of automated vehicles is that, besides predictable worries about the disappearance of jobs that currently require human drivers, there is a serious, and boring, lack of imagination. Most people seem to think the world will be the same as it is now, except that our cars will be driving us around. In this scenario, the main difference between now and then is that we’ll have more spare time to look at screens...

Mercedes Thinks Americans May Want a Luxury Pickup
Mercedes-Benz is making a pickup truck, and it thinks Americans might want in. The first vehicles this plan brings to mind are Cadillac’s Escalade EXT and Lincoln’s Blackwood and LT. Despite Americans’ ravenous appetite for pickups, these luxury trucks were hardly big successes. The Lincolns lasted just a few years on the market. The Escalade EXT was discontinued in 2013, after a decent run. Do Americans actually want a Mercedes-badged truck?

Tesla sets new Model S sales record
Despite lackluster sales in China, not to mention the delayed rollout of the highly anticipated Model X, Tesla is as strong as ever. Tesla this past Friday announced that they delivered a whopping 10,030 cars during the first quarter of 2015. Note that the figure pertains to cars that actually ended up in consumer hands. Which is to say, the company’s overall sales figures were likely a tad higher.

Google's Driverless Cars Are Learning How To Avoid Cows
When it comes to self-driving cars, the possibilities are seemingly limitless. In the past year, we've heard all kinds of interesting announcements, including prototype cars that can go really fast, self-driving cars driving across the country, and even self-flying cars (well, maybe someday). But on the road, anything can happen. Including cows. Our beefy friends do sometimes have the unfortunate habit of getting into the roadway, and while they don't tend to be as rambunctious as...

Here's Elon Musk's full argument against flying cars
Elon Musk is a titan of tech innovation. He has made the electric car sexy again and revolutionized the solar-electricity market, and he also has plans for a Mars mission to set up an off-Earth colony of humans. For all Musk's futuristic prowess, though, he has not given us that enduring pipe dream of the future: a flying car. Why isn't this awesome future we've been promised happening?

The real problem with Formula 1
I've spent most of my adult life looking to Formula 1 for tech things innovative and buzzworthy. The mind-bending designs of Gordon Murray and Adrian Newey spawned teenage fantasies of moving to Europe and training to become an aerodynamicist. But in recent years, my inner compass has pointed away from Monaco.
