Yes, absolutely, I was 240 pounds 15 years ago and got to 180 in about a year. Cut out as much sugar as possible, cut way back on carbs, lots of protein and lot's of veggies/fruits. Definitely had change my diet. The hardest part for me was understanding there was life after carbs!
I got really lazy last year and got up to 200lbs...so now back to focusing.
