The first comment I have downvoted, it's you, nebraska. He NEVER said that snapzu was a clone, in fact, he heavily implied it was different because he asked for "the Snapzu way of doing things." Stop being rude and just say hello to a friendly new user.
Don't believe that warranted a downvote to be honest. /u/nebraska wasn't being rude to the person making the snap, he was giving his guidelines to the people who are reading this snap at the moment. And it's a good advice as far as I'm concerned.
So in this instance you downvoted someone for disagreeing with them, since that user was not using hate speech or being offensive.
I was going to make a remark about that as well, but I decided against it because I believe /u/nebraska's comment falls in a grey area.
The comment may not be directly rude or offensive, but it is not very hospitable either.
I believe he could have delivered his advice more tactfully, without the kind of tone that often discourages people from posting over at that other website. Not that /u/nebraska didn't have good intentions or didn't contribute to the conversation at all, hence the grey area. I personally feel like this is a situation in which either actions — upvoting or downvoting — are equally justified. Just my two cents. :)
hehe i thought exactly the same and was wondering what /u/kvn was talking about. :) Well i think you see it both ways, only /u/nebraska can tell what he meant.
I understand. But part of my motivation in posting this is to put it in my rear-view mirror. I'm coming in with reddit habits and I don't want to bring them with me.
Both Reddit and Snapzu are content-sharing websites. They fill the same role. Yes, they're slightly different, but their purpose is the same - to share links and encourage discussion.
Yes, I understand that this is a new venture. Something different. But at the same time most everyone here is from Reddit. You can't just all of a sudden drop the discussion on things going on back there. People have been emotionally invested with that site for the last 1-10 years. Snapzu is cool and I believe it deserves lots of respect for trying something a little new and different...that's why I joined!
But to stop talking about all the shit going on back in Reddit, that won't happen.
I just this this community will hopefully continue to grow and prove to be something new, exciting, and different.
They are both content aggregators that share a good portion of their userbase and many are leaving the site for this one. I think he is justified in making a post in attempt to adjust to a different sites culture.
Stop talking about not talking about reddit. As the most popular site which carries a lot of the same features as this one, it is natural to draw comparisons and reference the real situation that the vast majority of new users have migrated from that site. This post is good natured, what more do you want?
