Are you just speaking common sense, or is there a story behind this? I, for one, would much prefer the latter.

I often wish I had the money to just build a bunch of different desktops without any budget restrictions. I wouldn't have to own them, hell, I'd probably just keep one and give the others away, but I just get so much enjoyment out of the assembly process.

This is actually currently the Topic of the Week over at /t/TribeTalk. Personally, I am torn in between the uniformity and cleanliness of tribes as they are now, and the complete freedom of customization that accompanies CSS editing.

I was going to make a remark about that as well, but I decided against it because I believe /u/nebraska's comment falls in a grey area. The comment may not be directly rude or offensive, but it is not very hospitable either. I believe he could have delivered his advice more tactfully, without the kind of tone that often discourages people from posting over at that other website. Not that /u/nebraska didn't have good intentions or didn't contribute to the conversation at all, hence the grey area. I personally feel like this is a situation in which either actions — upvoting or downvoting — are equally justified. Just my two cents. :)

Indeed. I've also found myself often deciding against posting certain comments because I thought people would not understand the intended jokes or underlying sarcasm.

Thank you for contributing. It seems that you you can remove snaps — at least as a tribe leader — by hovering over them on the tribe homepage and clicking "Remove". It does not currently look like you can remove comments. So it seems the only moderation tools currently available would be banning users and removing snaps. Which brings up the question: what tools would we like to see implemented? I would personally like to see an option to remove comments if that is not already available, as I would imagine they are the most frequent offenders of tribe rules.

Those are both also hobbies of mine! Well, to a certain extent. Programming is an endeavor I mean to undertake and perhaps even do for a living at some point. I've always enjoyed video editing as well and do it when I get the chance for small things such as travel and family videos, which often end up being somewhat over-produced for what they are haha.

I think having to hover over a comment to view its score might also encourage people to fully read and consider comments before rating them, and therefore also help prevent the cascades of downvotes that occur when users view posts which have already been significantly downvoted (hive mentality). However, this could also be prevented by requiring brief explanations from the users at the time of downvoting, in which case it would be fine to show comment scores at all times.

I'm not sure what it is that he used, but I found this after some searching. It seems to be down at the moment though, which is understandable considering how many of us want to render our own little horrifying nightmares.
