    Selfies and selfie sticks.

    • GeneBoy

Yes! They're parts of what I call 'the age of me': modern society's acceptance, even encouragement, of self obsession. People simultaneously have this idea that social media is bringing us all closer together etc. etc., but it seems to me that people are just more concerned with self image and ensuring that image is seen by as many as possible. Thankfully Snapzu is a haven!

You know what the proposed French translation for "selfie" is? Ego-portrait. It captures the essence of it so beautifully, the fact that word was created is the only positive thing I can find about selfies!

Haha that is so spot on. The only person I know who owns one is probably the most egotistical person I've met. He spent the entire time at this bbq making ego-portraits of himself and his friend who were both dressed like guys from Baywatch. It was not a fancy dress party. Surreal.
