    These are mostly hangover prevention:

Drink 2 glasses of water and take 1 vitamine B pill before going to bed.
Hangovers are usually caused by dehydration.
And the vitamine B is needed, because alcohol breaks down vitamine B, a shortage of this doesn't help your body heal itself.

I assume you mean B6? Generally vitamins are a good idea though.

Yeah B6 in particular. But vitamines is almost always good. :)

Thanks very much, I knew about the water but no the vitamin B stuff. I'll use that in the future.

Similar to what /u/madjo suggested, but mine's a bottle of Gatorade or similar type sports drink before going to bed and another spare for the morning after.

Thanks. That makes sense seeing as the drink is designed to hydrate (and give you energy) and a hangover is basically dehydration.

    Before heading to bed:

    * 16 oz water - alcohol dries you out

    * 1 piece of toast with honey - honey replaces vitamins. toast helps settle your stomach

    * Tylenol - stop the hangover headache before it starts

    After waking up:

More of the same. More water, More toast with honey (couple pieces). Don't eat more than a couple pieces for breakfast. Wait until lunchtime the next day for more solid foods.

Be careful with the Tylenol. It's being metabolised by the liver which is busy doing that to all the ethanol. The problem is that a toxic metabolite is being produced that is normally "caught" by an antioxidant (glutathione). Unfortunately that is also used in large amounts during the detox of ethanol and ethanol inhibits the production of new glutathione. Very broadly spoken. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details though so there might be mistakes in that chain. The point is that tylenol and alcohol are not a good combo so if you can avoid it you should. Not to mention that you normally sleep for longer than the tylenol is actually active so it's doubtful you have any benefit from it.

Thanks for the warning. I don't know enough about that to comment. Suffice it to say, all of the relevant bits are still working fine on this end, even though I seldom check out the owners manual.

Generally speaking it wont be a problem if you pop a tylenol before going to bed after drinking. It strains the same degradation pathways as ethanol does though and as both have toxic metabolites that better get degraded further asap that's probably not a good idea. As long as your liver is not already damagd you should be fine but why risk it for the doubtful possibility that it might prevent a headache. As far as I'm concearned lots of water and a multivitamin pill are mostly what I use.

I try to have a glass of water for every 'drink' I have, whether that's a shot, glass of wine, bottle of beer, whatever. /u/madjo is right though 2 right before bed and some vitamin B make a huge difference. If all else fails, eggs, bacon, toast and a tall glass of OJ or two usually pick me back up pretty immediately.

As a New Jersey native, Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese on a roll. The effect is mostly psychological, but still...

Ok, not quite a cure, but if you're tactical, this is how to prevent a hangover with 90% success -

    1. Starting with the most obvious one - drink water throughout your evening

    2. Stick to the same drink, and if you can, don't drink spirits at all (apart from whiskey, of course!)

    3. If you ignore all the others, just follow this one - at some point in the evening, drink a LOAD of coconut water. I'm not sure why it works, but it bloody does.

Rockstar: Recovery drink and two pills of Excedrine. I've yet to meet someone that it didn't work for. Pop them before work and you're good to go. ;)

The best that's worked for me is: a greasy breakfast, along with toast, some headache reliever like ibuprofen, gatorade, and an extra 2 hours of sleep. Usually works :)

My favorite thing is to make coffee and breakfast tacos, lay on the couch and watch mediocre action films all day. By the next day I'm usually fine. If you're looking for efficiency: Coffee, tylenol, a double cheeseburger with an egg on it.

I don't get hangovers, but i do drink a lot of water and apparently seeing by the posts here it is the reason i don't.

Sip apple juice. A friend told us this to in college and it worked so now we always keep some juice on hand if we're going to be drinking.
