I consider Fullmetal Alchemist one of the most accessible shows ever created. Extremely likable characters, an immersive world, and wonderful story. If you liked fight scenes, this show has some very well-choreographed ones throughout. There are two series. The first series came out in 2003 and diverges greatly from the source material towards the end due to the story not being completed yet, so they came up with their own ending. The second series, subtitled "Brotherhood" is much closer to the source material and came out in 2009. Both are fantastic shows and I recommend watching both if you ever have the time, but if you only want to watch one, I personally prefer Brotherhood as the story follows the direction the manga author originally intended. You do not need to watch either series to understand the other so choose whichever you'd rather watch. This series is also one of the few cases where I greatly prefer the dub to the subs as well. This shows is not my favorite, but it is still a great show and the one I always recommend to friends when they want to get more into anime.
