This deal is about a lot of things, including easing tensions between the West and the Middle East. I'm willing to concede that Iran is unlikely to be close to producing a nuclear bomb, but that still doesn't make this a bad deal. Our policy toward Iran has been based on mutual hostility and distrust, and a generation's worth of sanctions hasn't done anything to solve the problem. Maybe, just maybe, if we can dial back the hostility they'll be a little more willing to help us reign in some of the the terrorism in the world.
