Iran has been "less than 90 days away from having enough fissile material" for 30 years now. This deal is not about nuclear weapons, it's about restoring western influence in the region, nuclear weapons are just a boogie man used to sell the idea to the people.
This deal is about a lot of things, including easing tensions between the West and the Middle East. I'm willing to concede that Iran is unlikely to be close to producing a nuclear bomb, but that still doesn't make this a bad deal. Our policy toward Iran has been based on mutual hostility and distrust, and a generation's worth of sanctions hasn't done anything to solve the problem. Maybe, just maybe, if we can dial back the hostility they'll be a little more willing to help us reign in some of the the terrorism in the world.
