    Why should it be? This does not touch their lives and they have no reason to care. They had rather discuss things that will get people's undies in a twist.

      I don't think that it is true to say that the economy doesn't touch their lives. They may have a greater economic security than most but they are still affected by the changes in the economy like the rest of us even if it is to a lesser degree. I think that the reason that the presidential candidates aren't mentioning the economy is because most people don't understand economics. It's a very confusing topic and apart from a few buzzwords and cliche phrases that are thrown around to entice voters (lower taxes, promote small businesses etc.) it is very difficult to make economics a subject that can be discussed in a way that the average voter can understand.
