Vapid hit piece. The author is no Hedrick Smith. Not so much unknowing as willfully ignorant, the intention of the piece seems to be recycling New York Times apocrypha for a new readership. Understanding modern Russia through the contents of the Times's reporting is more than a fool’s errand, it’s idiotic. So completely does the writer tow the Times line, right down to spinning the nature of the revolution in Ukraine, that the Kiev Post ran this article as is. What's next, rattling chains and low groaning sounds? Are we meant to be scared by trite hackery like this?
