One of the most powerful Democrats is being torched by liberals after coming out against Obama's Iran deal
Schumer, the Senate's No. 3-ranking Democrat who is next in line to lead his caucus, was set to reveal that he would buck the leader of his party — the president of the US — and vote against the Iran nuclear deal that has become a cornerstone of the president's emerging foreign-policy legacy.

Not surprised. This guy has been a DINO for years. But he's from New York, and anyone with a -D after their names gets voted in here. Just look at our current joke of a governor.
And I'm saying this as a hardcore democrat who has consistently written in Jon Stewart rather than check Schumer's box. Yes, I know Jon Stewart lives in New Jersey, but I'm hoping he'd agree to move to be our senator :)
C’mon. Is anyone, anywhere at all surprised? This is about as much surprise as the next headline about a ‘bitter GOP civil war’ that turns out to be about Republicans deciding not to have a certain vote take place after all.
Which part doesn't surprise you? That Schumer would oppose the Iran deal or that the party base would attack him for it?
Schumer breaking with Netanyahu would astonish me. At least that would explain frantic hand waving and shocked gasps. This non-event’s classic Dullsville.
Granted. Schumer is as much an agent of the status quo as anyone in Congress. What I find hopeful is that he's getting shit for it from his own party. That's why I included the link about Schumer being Reid's heir apparent as the Senate leader for the Democratic Party, because while he may be a Senator he doesn't represent the interests of his voters so much as his financial backers.
That pretty much sums up almost everyone in power. Or trying to get there.
That's not going to change unless we start supporting and voting for primary challengers.
The only one I've seen so far that I might be willing to support is Bernie. If he doesn't make it out of the primary, I'm staying home.
Do you really think Hillary would be just the same as say Kasich or Christie? Just because she isn't as good as Bernie doesn’t mean we should give up and let the Republicans win. At worst she'd be more like Obama and I'm in no hurry to repeat the last Bush administration.
There isn't anyone on the R side that I find at all appealing (and I am a registered R, though I lean far more Libertarian). Hillary is completely untrustworthy, likely faces some real legal trouble over her email server and retention of classified material, and I am afraid that if she is the primary winner, that a third Bush presidency is very possible. If it's a choice between those two, I'm staying home.
@NotWearingPants if you are fearful of a third Bush presidency, wouldn't you rather vote for Hillary Clinton than stay at home? That would help avoid a Bush presidency more than withholding your vote, and at least you'd know she wouldn't be as conservative as other guy, if that's what bothers you.
I can't vote for a criminal. Gen Petraeus got felony charges and plead for 2 years probation and a 100K fine for "mishandling" five classified documents, Clinton's illegal home email server handled in the thousands, perhaps tens of thousands. And it's been released that she retained at least some of those from at least 5 separate agencies after she left office. Most of the traffic is probably going to wind up to be forensically recoverable. All of this will be brought up relentlessly during a campaign and if it doesn't wind up with her charged, I will lose what little hope I have left for any sort of justice in this country.
Anyone below the rank of Colonel in the military that did this would be lucky to ever see the outside of a prison. Rules are a little different for generals, and we all know there is a big difference for the politically connected and the wealthy.
I really hope Bernie comes out of the primaries.
