I want out of Windows patch hell
You’d think that when it made patches pretty much inescapable, Microsoft would have made darn sure those patches were problem-free. But you’d be wrong.

So we have someone come to give a talk at work on Monday. He was ready to start, and suddenly his laptop started updating Windows, without ever asking. The message read something like "this will take a while". We had to rush to find him another computer. WTF are these people thinking? What if that computer was in charge of someone's life support or something?
I've thought the same thing.
I did that thirteen years ago.
