Can’t tell if sarcastic or pessimistic.
I think he just legitimately sees apple as that classic company with classic business practices that isn't about turning users into the product or coming up with new technology that is marginally more useful at the cost or jobs, freedoms, privacy, etc. It was a good read.

He sounds like an old grandpa that just realized, that it's the telephone that provided you with real tangible values of connecting people, while all those smarthphones-shmartphones are just gimmicks for those yuppies, that do more bad than good!
