I work for government. There is no negotiating salary. Everyone at a certain range makes the same amount, whether you are man or woman, gay or straight, left handed or right handed. I understand the difference between public and private sector, but I don't see why it couldn't work the same in private sector.

The problem is there is a heck of a lot more competition with the private sector and companies that don't allow for negotiation can put themselves in a difficult position when seeking new talent. I think that would be the most difficult problem to over come as long as the "free market" continues unchanged.
