This is why I scoff at the suggestion that ad blocking is "unethical." Maybe if the ads in question were plain text, or simple inline images hosted by the source website.

But the minute some javascript-dependent third-party advertising company is brought in, it becomes a matter of personal security.

    It's the difference between:

    1. We're going to place ads in our newspaper and leave it on your doorstep.
    2. We're going to place ads in our newspaper, enter your home and leave it on your table. Hey, what could possibly go wrong?

Edit: Actually, it's worse than that! It's more like:

    3. Instead of the regular paperboy who works for us, this time a man from the agency that designed the ads will enter your home and leave the newspaper on your table.

Nope, still worse. It's more like:

      4. Instead of the regular paperboy, here's Bob who is going to move into your home full-time, watch and take notes on everything you do, everywhere you go, who you talk to and for how long, what you buy, what you look at and don't buy, and then he's going to send all that information to us.
