Problem is, not all of us live in "modern" days... a lot of areas in the world still have no modern medicine, famine and disease is their reality. I hope with the rapid evolution of technology, we will be able to eradicate disease in the next 10-15 years, but thats just wishful thinking.
Good thing we live in modern days where most of these can easily be contained and treated.
