Yep, a cheapish but nice Seiko automatic. Back in the days of dumbphones, I didn't wear a watch for years - I just used my phone. But I realised a year or two back that with a smartphone, I get it out of my pocket to see what time it is, then check Facebook, then check Twitter, have a look how things are going on eBay, take a look at the weather forecast, read my email, check Facebook again and put my phone back in my pocket probably still not knowing what time it is. So now, in the face of all the modernity, I use a clunky old mechanical watch to tell me what time it is.

Paper books. My wife has a Kindle, which I use when I'm reading something I only have as an e-book, but given the choice I'll take a paperback every time.

The common cold, wasps, scraping ice off windscreens, slow internet, dishwashers that don't, shopping trolleys with wobbly wheels, cold coffee, warm beer, flat tyres, blunt knives, traffic jams, inaccurate weather forecasts, pens that stop writing mid-sentence despite having plenty of ink, spam, zits, and the music of Coldplay. Life is pain.

It's rude to choose texting over face-to-face talking when you're out with friends
Now that's the thing I have a problem with. Actually, even an occasional text I don't mind so much, but I DO lose it when I'm trying to talk to someone and they're obviously far more interested in checking if they've got any new likes on frigging tumblr (or something equally banal). I have been known to walk away mid sentence for this very reason.

I'd suggest you read "David Copperfield". From birth to death, with nothing left out.
(Seriously, if you haven't read it, it's awesome - if a little ... umm ... challenging to get through. Typical Dickens.)

I can understand wanting to own a piece of music history but ... $2.4 million? Pretty sure I could find a better use for that money.

Not just in the USA, sadly. Cameron and his cronies seem to have given up all pretence of caring about the ordinary people of the country.

Nice idea, I hope they do well. Can't help thinking it'd need to be an awful lot bigger (and cheaper) to be really practical as a food source, though.

France warns US over Transatlantic treaty - The Local
France says it is ready to pull out of talks over the controversial Transatlantic free-trade agreement between the EU and the US, because the secretive negotiations were favouring American interests over French ones.

Why supermarkets’ love of use-by dates leads to food waste | Joanna Blythman
Use-by and best-before dates have been endowed with an authority they do not deserve, and allow food manufacturers and supermarkets to play around with the concepts of freshness and safety

I used to do something similar, with a single username for everything, until I got sucked into a political argument with a right-wing troll on one particular forum and he (I assume) googled my username and started following me around other sites, essentially being as aggressive and offensive as he could to me and (worse) my friends. As he was many thousands of miles away I never felt physically threatened (though he did make threats, and managed to figure out my real name, home town and some details of my family), but it was a very unpleasant period. I now make a point of doing the exact opposite - the only time I use the same username twice is on sites where my real name is public, as there's not much point worrying about it on those!
I'd say to anyone who uses the same name on every site ( /u/jenjen1352 was another), be very careful.
(Edited, 'cos I apparently don't know how to give someone a "mention" in a comment)

Heh... I don't use Reddit much since I started posting on here, but I must be on my third or fourth account there - every now and again I just find the place so utterly irritating that I delete my account and swear never to go back...
I'm very happy that we got your dedicated "socialising" account here on Snapzu! #;-)

If you saw a picture of me, it would make perfect sense. My usual (non-winking) smiley has round glasses as well as hair, which makes it an accurate enough likeness to use on a passport. #8-)
