I have been incredibly pessimistic of facebook, and for the longest time have shared extremely little on the platform. I use it strictly for catching up with old friends, and even that I feel dirty doing on there because I know they put all of this communication through their AI machine learning stuff.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've never had a Facebook account for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I live a perfectly normal and productive life without it. I socialize, I volunteer in my community, I chat with neighbors (in real life I mean!), and I never have once felt that I "need" Facebook. The biggest myth Facebook has is that people "need" it. We don't - in fact, Facebook needs us more than we need Facebook.
This is so true. I've never used Facebook and I have no plans to ever use it.
People did fine before it came along and they will do the same if it dies in a fiery blaze.
