Facebook's Zuckerberg says sorry to Britons with newspaper apology ads
Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg apologized to Britons on Sunday over a “breach of trust”, taking out full page advertisements in British newspapers after a political consultancy got its hands on data on 50 million users. “We have a responsibility to protect your information. Yeah, so they don't deserve people's information because they have clearly proved they're unable to protect that information. This is pretty much the only conclusion from the ad they took out.
I have been incredibly pessimistic of facebook, and for the longest time have shared extremely little on the platform. I use it strictly for catching up with old friends, and even that I feel dirty doing on there because I know they put all of this communication through their AI machine learning stuff.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've never had a Facebook account for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I live a perfectly normal and productive life without it. I socialize, I volunteer in my community, I chat with neighbors (in real life I mean!), and I never have once felt that I "need" Facebook. The biggest myth Facebook has is that people "need" it. We don't - in fact, Facebook needs us more than we need Facebook.
This is so true. I've never used Facebook and I have no plans to ever use it. People did fine before it came along and they will do the same if it dies in a fiery blaze.
Sad thing is that Facebook is doing this for pretty much as long as they excist. And we all know it for that long also.
Edit: cool idea: let's blame that on the Russians!!
