Movie studios are blaming Rotten Tomatoes for killing movies no one wants to see
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Baywatch were never going to be critical darlings. In the fallout, are Hollywood producers blaming the writers? The actors? Themselves? (Of course not.) No, they are reportedly blaming Rotten Tomatoes.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they keep resuscitating dead things and hope that everybody thinks it's new. Probably after they have Baywatch 35, Pirates 107 and Star Wars 10 to the 8th power showing to the roar of chirping crowds, they might figure it out.
I think once Hollywood realizes that their risk is greater to keep pumping out crappy sequels & prequels as opposed to supporting and creating unique and original content, then they will change their ways. Until then, we are stuck with the crap they pump out.
I like your optimism.
People keep paying to see the same crap over and over again. Why should they make any effort to be creative? The fraction of people who appreciate it is too small for it to be worth the cost.
If Hillary can blame the Russians and the DNC and people listen to her, I can see how this makes sense.
