“This evidence supports the idea that human impact on the environment was widespread even before the industrial revolution,” said Paolo Gabrielli, a research scientist at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center at Ohio State and corresponding author of the study.

How exactly was it "wide spread" when there was limited technology only known to certain population groups that would have caused this type of pollution though. I can't imagine pollution being even close to as wide spread as during or after the industrial revolution as most countries and now corporate entities continue to pollute for personal and monetary gain.

I think that it means we have been messing things up for a while, but of course on a larger scale since the industrial revolution. We have the technology now that tells we are messing up things. Even with the tech we do it anyway.

Yeah, you would think that with all this scientific research and advanced technology we would find plenty of reasons and ways to stop screwing up our planet... Nope, short term gain over long term survival is what we humans seem to understand best.

That's how it works. They just don't care,as long as they make a bucket load of money.
