I'm not a bird watcher or anything, and maybe that's because my wife is terrified of birds, but, why is the Starling so hated? I've heard this before from other people as well.

native birds,like bluebirds and flickers and wins...Which is not a good thing.

pets since I was a kid and enjoy watching them. (Except starlings,which I
want to kill on sight.)
The starling is the bird I love to hate. I wish I could go back in time and prevent that pompous prick from bringing them to America.
