How many freudian psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Two. One to screw it in, one to hold the penis.

    Uh, father.

    LADDER. To hold the ladder.

Krypton, Argon and Neon walk into a bar. The bartender shouts, "Get out! We don't serve noble gases here!".

    They don't react.

I took the shell off my racing snail the other day, hoping it would make him faster.

If anything, it made him more sluggish.

I bought some shoes from a drug dealer this morning.

I don't know what he laced them with, but I've been tripping all day.

    [DISSENT] Snappers are Copycats

[DISSENT] If the term 'Snapper' takes off, won't this tribe become an arbitrary waste of time?

If you base your entire life on one issue, especially one of opposition, won't existence seem futile once you have won? Just a thought.

[Site Behaviour] Users must be a certain level to downvote

Why not disallow downvotes until a user's level has reached reasonable threshold (say 5 or even lower)? This means that someone who is completely new and inexperienced couldn't just start downvoting things without really understanding how it works (some work has to go into contributing before your voting voice is heard). Those who just want to lurk can still level up some without posting and they can still read things (which is the point of lurking, right?).

I'm not married to this idea, but I think something like this would be worth consideration.

How can Snapzu maintain its amazing 'friendly' vibe as it grows?

As most users are probably aware, Snapzu is a really friendly and welcoming place for old and new alike. For me this is one of the main USPs of the site.

I think some of this has to do with the fact it's relatively young site (early adopters are often more passionate and engaged with a site's own core approach) as well as its current invite-only status (users are more likely to bring in like-minded individuals). As a user base increases in size, attitudes inevitably diversify, and focus is harder to maintain. Reddit immigrants will surely attest to this having happened almost every time a small subreddit has had an influx of members, or been added as a default for new users.

So, with the knowledge that there is bound to be some affect on the vibe of the site as it starts to grow (which will be unavoidable), what do you think both the admins and users can do as we progress to mitigate this as much as possible?

[Feature] User Discussion and Comments List

Preamble: I haven't seen this in any other suggestions or update blogs, so apologies if I missed something obvious.

I think it would be really great if there were links on the user section for 'Discussion List' and 'My Comments', which act in the same way as the current 'Snap List' functionality, only for discussions the user started and comments the user made, respectively. I can use them to see a list of all my started discussions or comments, initially in reverse chronological order (with sorting options).

This gets over a minor issue I've had getting back to things I did in the last couple of days. Normally I scroll down the notifications to find something recent (mainly a discussion), but this is limited to a fixed amount. With snaps, it's not an issue, so why not include it for the other types of contributions?

Edit: this could have options to filter by tribe.

I've gathered that we appear to be called 'Snapzites'. Where did that come from?

I've seen a number of posts referring to snapzu users as 'snapzites'. Having done some searches, I can't seem to find the original source for this (including FAQ, etc.). Just interested as to where that came from and how people knew to start using it.

    [Features] Exact Time of Comments

    A small one:

I think it would be quite useful to be able to see the exact time/date of a post when desired. When you are following a thread where all the posts say '3 weeks ago', it would be really cool to be able to hover on this text and see the actual date/time of the post. This may sometimes be useful in order to fully appreciate the flow of conversation (especially with some humorous discussions).

    Boy - Little Numbers

Boy is a Swiss/German pop duo who have been around since 2007. This song is from their 2011 album, Mutual Friends. I find this song really addictive. Check out the cool little breakdown near the end of the song.

[Site Behaviour] Retain Text Hyperlink When Expanding Images in Comments

When a user clicks a link to an image in a comment, the hyperlink text is replaced by the image that is loaded in-line. As people sometimes create links mid-sentence, it often renders the sentence unreadable. In large threads with lots of this type of link it can be a small hassle. I suggest that the text is retained as well as loading the image immediately after.

    Example:

Link format (hyperlink in bold): "Hey, I found the best hairstyle for you!"

Current behaviour: "Hey, I found [image] for you!"

Suggested behaviour: "Hey, I found the best hairstyle [image] for you!"

[Site Behaviour] Expand Links in Discussion Posts

When a discussion is posted with a link to an image in the post text, it would be useful to be able to expand the image in-line. This is already the way image links work in comments, but it is not the case in the initial post.

The link could be clicked once to expand the image, and the newly-expanded image then clicked to fully navigate to that URL.

    [Features] Custom Tribe 'Mashups'

As a user, I'd like to be able to create and save a list of tribes whose combined posts I can view in aggregate, so I can quickly browse snaps based on my mood.

This would basically work like the normal tribe-based view, but as if I had only joined the tribes in the list. I could have a limited number of lists that I could give a friendly name. My own lists would then appear as a dropdown or sidebar button, so I could filter the main list quickly.

Potentially, I could also turn off a list from the main view.

An example of how this could be useful:

    • I use snapzu for general fun and like lots of comedy tribes. I'm looking for a job, so I decide to join tribes about jobhunting, interview techniques, dressing for success and a job tribe for my country or state.

    • I don't want to see the job stuff when I'm browsing for comedy (it's a bummer when I'm looking for funny clips).

    • I make a comedy list ('procrastination') and a job list ('get working'). I can quickly select one on the main page and focus on my mission.

Really just a loose suggestion, but potentially useful for some.
