Years ago I was hooked on Half-Life, to the point that I gave up sleep and played it until the wee hours of the morning. Eventually I had to stop myself or I would've ended up divorced. I've steered away from video games ever since. I recognize that my obsessive addictive personality should not indulge.
Yeah, I actually played Google's augmented reality game "Ingress" for about a year when it first came out a couple years ago and I got really obsessive with that too. I was spending hours a day driving, biking and walking all over the place to capture and link portals. I finally had to quit because I would wake up at night thinking about it and obsessed way to much. It was a LOT of fun, but it was taking over my life and my thought life. I'm just not made to play these games in a healthy way, if there is one. :P
I have the same exact problem, so I stay away from RPG style games as I have a tendency to get hopelessly addicted to them. Now I just keep my sessions short, and never more than a couple of hours.

Always wondered about that game, didn't realize how addictive it can be.
