Commented in Elon Musk says he'll resign as head of Twitter
For what it's worth: I think that he planned this all ahead, as in: not being CEO forever and that he planned to appoint someone as soon as he finds one. All the rest what was happening, from the sink wordplay to the voting him out was a carefully planned PR-stunt. Or, as I like to call it, a charade.

Commented in 2 Day BIKEPACKING Camping trip by E-Bike 80 miles
Really nice video man! What sort of hammock are you using? Been thinking about getting one while it's cheap(winter, heh) for my summer trips. I've seen a few at the local outdoors store https://gritroutdoors.com/ has a few models, but would like something similar to yours since it looks pretty compact yet comfortable!

Commented in Judas Priest - The Hellion / Electric Eye
I was about twelve when this record came out and had a recordplayer in my bedroom. Saved up all my money to buy that album. The two songs presented here are the first two tracks on the vinyl. The first time this came out of my speakers, I knew immediately that it was my kind of music. It showed on the record, those two tracks were a bit dark-grey (instead of the usual black). They are still playing after all those years, even released an album not too long ago (2018). Still a fan. :-)

Commented in Mark Zuckerberg should dial down the metaverse crap and make Facebook 'Facebook' again
Naah, let him ruin Meta. Off with the head! (Probably NSFW link... who knows...) :-)

Commented in How many more warning signs does Mark Zuckerberg need to see before he pulls the plug on his metaverse?
I'm pretty sure he will not pay out of pocket for this "venture". Most of his riches are in stocks, where he got hit pretty bad the past few months. His wife is also involved in his pledge, "the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative", to hand out 99% of their Meta (at time of the pledge still Facebook) stocks. Let them roll like this, since those kind of pledges are mostly done to avoid even more taxes and to gain political influence. So, in that light: let that company crash hard. Let those fuckers bleed as dry as the Sahara, or wait no, even better: as dry as Dry Valleys in Antarctica. As a European I'm normally a guillotine kind of guy, but why waste energy (which is expensive) and let them all do it to themselves. Also: bigger entertainment-factor. :-)

Commented in Sleep Simulation: The Future of Sleep?
What I get from the article is mostly: less hours of sleep, is more hours of "being productive", as in: more hours of (wage) slave labor. I refuse to trade my hours of dreaming, resting and enjoying the best part of my life for some underpaying, high earning boss. Fuck. That. Shit.
Being more connected to our technology: shove that where the sun doesn't shine.
Then this:Sleeping is a big part of our lives, and it’s no secret that the less we sleep, the shorter our lifespan would be. But if we could find a way to reduce the amount of sleep we need, it would stand to reason that our lifespans would increase as a result.
Am I the only one who sees the utter bullshit of that quote? First stating a truth that if we sleep less our lifespan reduces and right after that trying to state that if "we" reduce our hours of sleep we'll increase our lifespan.
I admire the effort of sounding all utopian, but this pure bullcrap of an article tries to make us believe that we need to be more productive. Work work work work work, till you drop dead. In this world of overproduction, unequal divided resources, depression as one of the main diseases and also thanks to all that producing a more and more polluted world with a climate about to go haywire, yeah, let's sleep less and produce some more of that unneeded and unwanted shit.
Anyways, it's always nice to read that this kind of propaganda tries to manipulate us towards a dystopian world masquerading it as some sort of paradise.

Commented in They built their businesses on Instagram. Then the platform changed
I don't like TikTok and don't use it cause I want nice, long,in depth videos, not five second snippets with crappy "music".

Commented in They built their businesses on Instagram. Then the platform changed
In the article it says there is a big push to video such as Instagram Reels, which is not always what viewers want. I think too many social media platforms are trying to copy TikTok and prioritize video, but if people want video they are already on TikTok anyway. The reason they're going to Instagram isn't for video. It's the same with Pinterest - it's trying to prioritize Idea Pins, which are videos, but I'm not on there to watch videos (if I was, I'd just use TikTok instead). So it's really frustrating trying to "dodge" the videos on Pinterest, and I suspect it's the same with Instagram.

Commented in The Metaverse Will Reshape Our Lives. Let's Make Sure It's for the Better
I'm all for technological progress and I think that the current internet is just the tip of the iceberg of what has yet to come. I also think that a decentralized internet is the answer to a corporate claim of the networks, because at the moment we are being pushed to a conglomerate blob of commerce, which stifles or even stops progression. New or newer ideas get bought up and end in a drawer or, at most, gets separated and re-assembled in some sort of digital Frankenstein with the sole purpose to generate profit.
The early internet had succes because of its' openess and somewhat unregulated creation of content. It challenged common people to be creative within the constraints of coding languages, bandwidth and processing power. It is the same with a metaverse, although the constraints are now determined by several companies that have no openess in mind, let alone an unregulated form of creativity. The main goal is commerce, not expression or a drive to progression.
The biggest advancements of a metaverse will be when quantum-technology is better developed and commonly available or even open sourced, like HTML, PHP, MySQL are open source and freely to use for everyone. Again, it's an idea, but combine quantum-technology with decentralisation and open source and the worms are out of the can, which is my hope (or electric dream?). It's from chaos and somewhat unorganized developments that progress arises, not from overly controlled (and sucked dry to the bone for commerce) "enhancements".
Back to my coffee and cigarette. And later on easel, because, for now, the only metaverse I will know is made with paint, canvas and loud music. :-)

Commented in From a stellar nursery to a cosmic car crash: Zoom in on the James Webb images
And it is just the beginning. I think in a few years time, this telescope will have changed significant parts of astrophysics. And therefor even change our perception of reality, for instance they were wrong about the bigbang, like it never happened and it was just an assumption with mostly circumstantial evidence, so there is a story of "how it all started" (and served very handy the doctrines of the Vatican )?
Or that dark matter is just an excuse for something unexplainable? You know, those kind of things. :-)

Commented in The Webb telescope's first full-color photo is here — and it's stunning
This is nice. Skip the video cause it's just talking heads, well, talking.

Commented in Russia Ukraine conflict NATO chief says Ukraine war could last for years
Meanwhile, this song plays at pretty much every weapons manufacturer's office. But everytime when I see one of those political smugs on screen, all I can think of is this song. And it doesn't matter what party those smugs are members of, they are all defined by greed, lies and profiting of off people's misery and the population's (seemingly) incapacity to throw those inbred assholes from their ivory towers.

Commented in I’m nearly 60. Here’s what I’ve learned about growing old
The only world that has changed is my own. And that process is still going strong. What happens to my physical entity after death, or as I call it: redirecting my energy and timeline, doesn't bother me at all. I like Pink Floyd a lot, but there's a shitload of music in my collection, so I really do not have anything to quote, just because of the sheer amount I can choose from. Maybe this one as it is about time travelling, a thing everybody does while growing older. :-)
