    We have morality police in the USA. They don't call themselves that, but they enforce morality laws that were created by religious zealots. And, we also put people in prison for life for violating those laws, even though not a single person was harmed.

      Sure, we may have some ridiculous laws that only exist because of zealots, but they are relatively small compared to the ones in Iran. If a law was passed that was anything like the Iranian morality police, we'd riot. The only law that hurts no-one that can put you in prison for life would be certain drug crimes, but I wouldn't say that's necessarily religious as the bible doesn't say much about drugs. It's more cultural.
