The bump in purchases seem to start roughly a year before he was elected president and have only increased since then.
While we're looking at gun ownership, it might be interesting to see the number of gun deaths nationwide as well. According to the numbers, the actual count of gun deaths seem to have a modest uptick in the latest figures.
