    If I start seeing LED bulbs for $3, I might actually start buying some.

      I have a few (the more expensive ones) and they work really great. Once the price comes down a bit more I will be exchanging all my bulbs.

        Yeah. I mean, I know that popping for them now would start me on the path to saving money sooner, $11-15 per bulb is just something I can't stomach much of currently :)

          I switched over to CFLs ten years ago before they really started to drop in price. To date I've only had to replace one, so they've definitely been worth the investment. If LEDs can match that performance I'll be switching to them either when my CFLs finally burn out or when we next move, whichever comes first.

            We use mostly CFLs in our house now, but I don't think I've had one last 10 years :)

              And my fiancee tends to leave the lights burning all the time, which makes me even more impressed. I'm guessing I got a really good batch.

              @spaceghoti -

              My kids are the light-burners in our house. Would be nice to have LEDs for all of the lights that they tend to leave on all the time.

            If you want a decent LED check a FRY's near you.. but not in their normal light bulb section. Check over in their Appliance section. We got all of our bulbs for $5.00 each out of the Appliance area and love the light.
