Uh, I posted another source on this story as its own snap because I didn't see this post, and usually when that happens I just delete the snap and add a related link instead... but /u/spaceghoti posted my snap as a related link... so what should I do? I've never seen that done before, but if I remove my snap now it'll break the link. Advice?

I think it depends on what you want to do. I still think yours shouldn't be considered a repost since it comes from a different source and there's apparently no official position on what to do. So when I find snaps like that I throw related links referencing each other.

I don't think it's a repost, just a related link. I'm wondering if it makes sense to have links to other snaps as related links or not, I've never considered that. As I said, I would normally just remove the snap and add a link instead, but I don't want to mess up your links...

          I don't think it's a repost, just a related link.

Previously different sources on the same topic (like a current event) were treated as reposts. I agree it's related, which is why I pointed to each other's snaps so people could see multiple sources had been posted.

You won't hurt my feelings if you do. :) I posted the snaps as a public service, and if you want to take yours down my related links can be removed.

Yeah, I guess what is or isn't a repost is debatable. I'm going to leave this as it is and see what happens. Thanks for being accommodating, though! I guess I got used to doing things a certain way and was thrown off by this.

Honestly, until we improve and overhaul the repost concept we need to allow different sources to be posted as standalone snaps, it's really the only fair way to approach this at this moment. The good thing is, those who are first to post a story usually establish an advantageous position with early comments, related content and up votes. We should expect additional snaps from different sources posted after the fact to have less of a chance to succeed just by the fact that others will not up vote that content. I think this approach lets the community decide as well as keeping things free of complicated solutions to an issue that isn't really an issue in the first place, at least not at this point in time.

So, what's the thinking on posting a link to a snap as a related link? Does that make sense? I can see that getting complicated...

How so? I don't see an issue with it whatsoever, and it works great for things like images and videos.

Well, if related links are to snaps and not to original outside sources, it's potentially not as efficient and convenient. It seems redundant to the "here are some other snaps you might like" feature, for one thing. I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around it, TBH. I'm picturing a list of related links that are all to other snaps instead of external links and it seems to almost defeat the purpose of related links.

So what you're suggesting is that we should disallow "link" snaps form being submitted in the form of a related link?

That's one way to solve it I guess.

Uh... Maybe? I hadn't thought about it at all until today, so I don't have a clear idea of what's best. Perhaps we should take this discussion elsewhere, like to /t/lounge or /t/asksnapzu, and ask what people think. I didn't intend to take up so much space here.

Agreed! Please feel free to post up a discussion on the matter in /t/lounge and we can get some feedback. Also, it's great that these types of questions are brought up, Snapzu is a work in progress, we are constantly trying to improve the platform :)

I've never seen this particular thing happen before, which is why I'm asking, but I'm not upset about it, just curious as to what's appropriate to do.
