Humans are believed to have domesticated the horse around 5,500 years ago. And the effects of domestication--including some deleterious ones--can be seen in the genomes of modern-day horses, according to a new study.

Well,domestication has also altered animals in other ways. The so called "standards" are actually defects and lead to health problems,such as ear infections in lop eared rabbits,and a variety of genetic problems in domesticated animals. I've added a link to a program that addresses the problem of inbreeding to a lofty standard in dogs.. It's hard to watch,but you get the idea.
