Politics used to be about the art of the compromise. Now it's pure partisanship, and both sides blame the other for it. The old Russian arms control negotiating tactic: "What's mine is mine, what's yours is negotiable".

Bipartisan does not equal people who agree with you, though that has somehow become the definition over the last couple of decades.
