Federal court rules veggie burgers can still be named burgers, for now
Plant-based meat producers have had a win in the ongoing battle over what can and can’t be labeled a meat product in the United States. A federal court has temporarily blocked a law, passed in Arkansas earlier in 2019, which made it illegal for terms such as "burgers" and "sausages" to be applied to products made from plant-based materials.

I think it's a bit of a moot point. I'm puzzled why they would even WANT to call them a "burger". If I was wanting a vegetarian alternative to a burger, I'd probably search for "vege patties" or something like that, not for "burger". In fact, if you were a vegetarian who wanted to type in "burger" into your grocery store app, you'd probably get a lot of results that are meat, and therefore NOT what you were wanting. I personally think the veggie patty companies need to coin a new word or phrase for it ("vegpat" sounds lame, but something unique basically) exactly so that those confusions are laid to rest. Plus also so people can actually find what they're looking for.
