    Really good read. It was interesting that they noted that as people became more well to do they were more likely to turn to alternative medicine as they could afford it if something went wrong.

    The article also pointed out that, in the US system, patients are more like consumers; they can pick and choose whatever treatments they can afford, whether or not those treatments have been scientifically tested. Don't like what your doctor has to say? Go elsewhere.

    Though I do have to say that, when I was economically disadvantaged and had shitty insurance in the US, I turned to alternative medicine because I could not afford to go to a doctor.
