The Anti-Vaxx Movement and the Cult of American Individualism
It doesn’t matter how many works of Ayn Rand you throw at communicable diseases—they will always be communist by nature. For decades, advancements in modern medicine have been slowly chipping away at some of humanity’s most brutal diseases. On October 26, 1977, for example, the last naturally occurring case of smallpox was diagnosed, and today […]

Really good read. It was interesting that they noted that as people became more well to do they were more likely to turn to alternative medicine as they could afford it if something went wrong. Those people at the bottom can't afford to get sick from easily preventable diseases.
This is the best quote that covers an individuals rights Justice John Marshall Harlan concluded, “The liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States to every person within its jurisdiction does not import an absolute right in each person to be, at all times and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint. There are manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subject for the common good.”
The article also pointed out that, in the US system, patients are more like consumers; they can pick and choose whatever treatments they can afford, whether or not those treatments have been scientifically tested. Don't like what your doctor has to say? Go elsewhere.
Though I do have to say that, when I was economically disadvantaged and had shitty insurance in the US, I turned to alternative medicine because I could not afford to go to a doctor.
How many "vaccine" failures, serious side effects, or deaths are permissible?
as long as there are significantly less deaths caused by vaccines than deaths that would happen without them, we're fine. Simple benefit vs risk analysis.
How many deaths are "significantly less"? As to vaccine failures, serious side effects?
Even if you counted alleged vaccine side effects and deaths as "vaccine failures", those numbers would not be anywhere near the numbers of lives saved directly, not to mention lives saved indirectly. Here's an overview on this: http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/86/2/07-040089/en/
Vaccine failures are just that, the vaccine had no effect. Problem seems to be you don't know what you got until it's too late. What ratio is acceptable to you, and would you be willing to sacrifice a loved one?
