As said in the main announcement thread, it smells less like real change and more like PR cover-up. Releasing the news on a Friday (best time to cover up a story as everyone is too busy), using the death threat users as a scapegoat (not that they aren't bad, but they are obviously heaping all the blame there), and not actually removing any of the hierarchy that has made reddit so bad besides Pao who almost certainly didn't act alone all adds up to PR 101 stunts. But meh, I'm happy over here anyway, so I'm indifferent to the whole deal.
