Just went in to the thread and made my first couple of comments in about a week. I got downvoted and treated like an idiot. It's weird, downvotes feel a lot worse now after being on snapzu for a while. Getting that kind of response is like when you've been on holiday, you get back home, and you can actually smell your housesmell. And it kind of smells like shit a little bit.

You've had a taste of decent discourse. I'm sorry but you can no longer go back to the maddening hoard. I know, I tried.

Ironically reddit was like this its first couple of years (2006-2008) and especially 2008 during the great Digg migration. It was all downhill from there.

Yep, I was there before the Digg thing. I still remember some of the most hilarious and insightful comments from reddit. But, in the past few years, it's been slowly degenerating into memes and pun threads and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, they could be fun, just not all the time.

Speaking of Reddit's past greatness, I'm hoping Snapzu can cultivate a science, AMA and history tribe. Those tribes were the best and, even in Reddit's dying days, never lost their focus.

Fuck reddit and that homogenized, circle jerk culture they have cultivated. Don't turn back man, I left that shithole a year ago and never looked back.
