Well, she's not the reason I'm here and away from reddit. Every thread turned into arguing, people would doxx people they didn't agree with, and in general the content submitted is pretty lousy compared to the majority content there. Constantly reading all that anger, and deleting my own comments over and over again for fear of being threatened was exhausting, and I'm happy to have found this place, at least.

I got rid of most of the default subs two years ago, it made the experience a lot more enjoyable but I also felt like I was out of the loop most of the time. Lately it seemed like I had just given up making comments and participating most of the time.

Same here. I was a very active user, but stopped participating months ago. If no-one's really listening to anyone else why bother saying anything?

Agreed. Some of the decisions that Pao made were questionable. Maybe unethical at best. Her treatment of Dacvak (if true) was verging on appalling.

That's not why I left. I left because of what has become a thoroughly toxic community. Nothing that the Admins can do can get rid of that. I got fed up of seeing an orange-red and my default reaction being "Oh god, what have I done?".

Yeah, I never noticed that, but it subtly went from "Oh boy! An Orangered!" To "Aw shit, who'd I piss off"

At least with an orangered you know why you pissed off people, when you see your comment go from +10 to -30 in 30 minutes, without any reply, it's way worse.

I agree. The trolls and loud mouthed bullies basically took it over to a large part. I dreaded seeing the orange envelope as well and would wait till the day after it appeared to open it. For the most part, the pm's were ok,but I never knew if I'd be blown out of the water or not. Who needs that kind of abuse? I sure don't.

I agree I joined reddit a few years ago posted a couple of times made a slip up and posted in the wrong sudreddit and you woulda thought I killed someone. After being called a liar and worse I decided that was enough for me and lurked pretty much the rest of my time there. The atmosphere here is less hostile and so far everyone's been nice shame it's taken a few years but in glad I found this place.

I'm finding I still have some PTSD from reddit, coming here. That is, I know that this community is much more welcoming and friendly, but I still find myself timid with commenting. I never realized just how exhausting reddit comments were, and how much of a maelstrom the community was as a whole.

I'm seriously thinking about treating reddit like YouTube. It's fine to check out the posts, but do not go into the comments.

Same here..It was only after I stopped going that I realized how it messed with my head.

I couldn't take that "ayy lmao" comment any more! Seriously, it has to be going on at least 6 months, but probably much more.
