Post an introduction! We want to learn about you.

    Hello everyone,

I'm glad to have woken up this morning and found some new members, hopefully more people keep coming. I thought while this tribe does not have a lot of members, people could start their own introduction posts. Include any information you're comfortable with and maybe a vision or idea you have for this tribe. I'm open to any feedback and outlook on the idea! I will post my introduction later, I want to give others a chance to post first. :)

    New Tribe Vibes and Ideas

Hello, thanks for stopping by at /t/NeedAFriend.

I want this tribe to be a place where everyone is comfortable. I hope that other people are interested in these types of online, often distant connections.

So a few administrative things, please be sure to read the "rules," for now they are there as a starter. If we feel we need to remove or adjust things over time, we can definitely discuss it. The one I want everyone to pay most attention to is the "no seeking of romantic relations" clause. This tribe is strictly for friends! I don't want people to not post because they think someone is going to angle at them from a romantic or sexual motivation.

    Posting ideas:

While I did not do this with my initial post, maybe some basic information in brackets if you think it will help you, i.e.:

[21/F/NY LF M or F] - Need someone to talk to... [M LF F] - Bored, looking for some interesting conversations!
    [M/TX] - Cowboy here

or any meaningful variation of this... :)

Though it is premature, if enough people are active and interested we could also get some sort of group chat system going too.

If anyone has any ideas or concerns, please feel free to post them here.

    I'll start off...

I've been experiencing the feeling of isolation followed by depression for quite some time and would be more than open to chatting with someone. I've always been bad at making friends. I used to have more internet friends from gaming, but it seems like I've drifted off from them as time has gone on. I would really like to have those types of connections again! We can start via PM and escalate to a more suitable chatting system over time if anyone is interested. :)

/t/NeedAFriend - Make friends in times of need or boredom

Hello everyone, I just started a tribe for people looking to make new friends online! The idea is that if you are depressed, bored, angry, frustrated, or whatever someone is going to be around to talk to you and hopefully you can make a friend out of it!

For now, since I am the only one... please feel free to reach out to me personally, I am available to talk. It would be great if other people who are willing to reach out and talk to others would also join and keep up with potential posts. Thanks!

Everyone has had that feeling of loneliness and just wants someone to talk to. Come join me at /t/NeedAFriend

[Site Behavior] Missing sidebars in smaller window sizes

I noticed this issue while trying to narrow criteria on the homepage or find the links to make a tribe. I spent ages trying to look for the create a tribe link and felt like an idiot/frustrated after figuring out why it wasn't there. I've produced these results in both Safari and Chrome (my boyfriend has also had this issue on his phone now that I think about it).

For example, on the homepage there is a sidebar for sorting on the right-hand side. Similarly when in your personal page for tribe memberships there is a sidebar on the right-hand side for the tribes you are a chief of and creating a new tribe.

If the window is small enough, these sidebars just don't exist... you can't scroll to them or anything. For someone who doesn't know any better, they could never find the create a tribe button or front page filters. Upon making the browsing window a little wider, they appear.

This was particularly frustrating and the sidebar should always exist regardless of window size. I did a quick search to find someone pointing out the same thing, but couldn't find it, so sorry if I made a duplicate post!

[Site Behavior] More variable dimensions for cover photos

I'm sure there's currently an implementation reason as to why the dimensions for cover photos are so strict, but it does make it a pain to upload anything. I've run into this issue with uploading a tribe cover photo and my own cover photo and it would be great if it automatically manipulated the image/allowed for a greater range in dimension.

/t/Mixology - For people who enjoy making beverages!

I was trying to find a dedicated tribe to alcohol/drinking/mixology that was active/populous and couldn't find one. I'm gonna start cranking out some drinks in a few weeks once I move and get settled, feel free to join and post some drink porn or get some drink making tips, etc.

What are reasons you downvote snaps and comments?

I'm looking for general/majority criteria on downvoting snaps and comments.

The consensus seems to be that you should not downvote based on disagreement. I also posted a snap yesterday that got a downvote but for no given reason. I'm left with thinking it had to be a disgruntled person since the nature of the snap could definitely have that effect.

So on that note, what reasons have you found to downvote things? If you haven't downvoted, what do you look out for? Thanks for the feedback!

Edit: Also adding another question, how do you give feedback on downvotes?
