It's time to quit making campy special consoles that don't work like the traditional model. They tried it with the Wii and Wii U lines, it didn't work. Let's get back to making controller style consoles with HD Graphics, HDD Space and quit charging me $10 for virtual console games for each damn device, I should pay once and have them in my account to play on whatever Nintendo Device they can be played on.

My hopes for the NX is a simple device that is more like the PS4/Xbox One and is easy to develop for. They also need to lay back on their kid friendly image, it's time to grow up and produce all kinds of games and quit pushing away big name developers. When you launch a new console you launch with AAA titles, not just EA and companies, but your own. You launch with Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda and Mario Karts. Don't hold them for years later. On top of that quit pushing more and more handhelds every couple of years, they're big business, we get it, but it's time to push the home market again too.

Godly response echo's my sentiments near perfectly. I thought the Wii was a big success though I'd argue that many of it's games would have been better with a traditional controller. I really hope they can get their act together. I love Nintendo and their IP's very much but they've been really making me irritated lately. It's like they don't listen to their customers at all. :(

The Wii was a big success at moving hardware, I don't know about games themselves. I still have a wii that I use as basically a scale with the Wii Fit.

I was about to start rattling off Wii games when I realized you were right... the list pales in comparison to other hardware that existed during it's time.

Remember the slogan, "Now you're playing with power"?

It sounds a lot better than "Now you're playing with a gimmick." When a feature is oversold and underutilized, it begins to feel a lot like a gimmick. I thought the motion controls on the Wii were fun for many games, but in some it felt really forced. I think the gamepad for the WiiU is a strange thing...why do I want to take my eyes off the screen to look at a smaller screen. I suppose in concept it's similar to the DS/3DS, but those screens are very close to each other and generally both right in my line of sight. I really enjoy Nintendo games, own a N3DSXL and am still contemplating a WiiU, but really all I want is a Nintendo home console that can match or surpass the power of the XBone or PS4. If Nintendo continues to bank their future on innovation to the detriment of computing power, I really fear they are going to continue to slip farther behind. You would think they're well positioned to release something that can leave the competition in the dust, but I just instinctively doubt that will happen, so the question will be whether or not the innovation associated with the NX will be a hit or a miss.

Only time will tell. I think most Nintendo fans will tell you they are sick and tired of the various gimmicks. I too miss the days of 'Now you're playing with power!" On the other side of this though there is the aspect that Nintendo likes to keep their consoles on the lower end of the price range which is something I appreciate. I still don't own a PS4 or Xbox One and I don't make a great deal of money which is why I picked up the Wii U for $275 about 8 months ago with a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land. It really made a difference to me. If they spec up to much (or if they had in the past I may not have been able to have bought a current gen console.

Edit: Point being I think there's a middle road between completely sacrificing power in lieu of gimmicky bullsh*t where I get a console more like the Gamecube. Solid Nintendo titles, moderate graphical capability (whilst still an improvement to the N64), no gimmicks, low price point.

Yeah, this line about the NX really scares me they'll continue their gimmicks. "Nintendo announced a new "dedicated games platform with a brand new concept" under the codename "NX" that would be further revealed in 2016."
