Only time will tell. I think most Nintendo fans will tell you they are sick and tired of the various gimmicks. I too miss the days of 'Now you're playing with power!" On the other side of this though there is the aspect that Nintendo likes to keep their consoles on the lower end of the price range which is something I appreciate. I still don't own a PS4 or Xbox One and I don't make a great deal of money which is why I picked up the Wii U for $275 about 8 months ago with a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land. It really made a difference to me. If they spec up to much (or if they had in the past I may not have been able to have bought a current gen console.

Edit: Point being I think there's a middle road between completely sacrificing power in lieu of gimmicky bullsh*t where I get a console more like the Gamecube. Solid Nintendo titles, moderate graphical capability (whilst still an improvement to the N64), no gimmicks, low price point.
