Andor Becomes The First Star Wars Show Without Jedis and Lightsabers, But Why Doesn't It Feature Any?
Andor is getting critical acclaim without having any Jedis or their lightsabers. But why are there no blazing sword wielders in the show? Andor is a beat apart from the other Star Wars productions. Not just in terms of its storytelling, but also because this is probably the first Star Wars story that doesn’t feature Jedis and their lightsabers. But why doesn’t it have Jedis? Let us explain that.

"Andor" disrupts the Star Wars fairy tale
Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi may be two men who eventually fight for the same side, but that's about all they have in common. The version Cassian we meet five years before the events of "Rogue One" is an outlaw sought by Imperial force, doing whatever he can to survive and stay off the radar. Sometimes that means shooting traitors before they can even think about drawing a weapon.

How Nicholas Britell Made Star Wars Sound Nothing Like Star Wars
Within the aesthetic of Star Wars, the operatic sweep of John Williams’s score is as definitive as TIE fighters or lightsabers. But when composer Nicholas Britell signed on to Andor, the 24-episode prequel series to the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he started with “a total blank slate.”

With the Excellent Andor, Star Wars Finally Finds a New Genre
Since Disney’s acquisition of the Star Wars franchise, the explosion of new movies and television shows has had its good and bad entries. Andor is definitely one of the good ones, but it’s certainly instructive that, on Twitter at least, that compliment has often been somewhat backhanded.

Star Wars Fatigue Shouldn't Stop You From Watching 'Andor'
There's a scene in episode 7 of Andor that had me reeling. It starts out weird. Cassian Andor, our titular antihero, having pulled off an impossible heist on the Galactic Empire, was doing what any reasonable criminal would do in the aftermath: partying it up in what can only be described as "Space Ibiza." Getting boozed up by night, lounging off the hangover at the beach by day. A strange vibe for a universe usually dialed in on space wizards duking it out with laser swords.

How ‘Andor’ Became the First ‘Star Wars’ TV Series for Grown-Ups: ‘I Wanted to Do It About Real People’
Tony Gilroy didn’t want to make a prequel to “Rogue One.” The 2016 “Star Wars” feature, which Gilroy co-wrote, is itself a prequel, detailing how a ragged crew of rebels, led by spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), steal the plans to the Death Star. They succeed, but (spoiler alert!) they all sacrifice their lives doing so — an uncharacteristically dour ending for a “Star Wars” endeavor.

The Mandalorian Season 4 Is Already In The Works
"The Mandalorian" creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that season 4 of the Disney+ series is already in the works, a process that has commenced way ahead of its upcoming season 3 premiere (via CinemaBlend). This is not surprising news at all, as "The Mandalorian" has been a grand success from the streaming platform, kickstarting a string of new "Star Wars" content and acting as a jumping-off point for several spin-off shows.
